IVF day 25.

I spent the majority of the day in bed yesterday and today.  Just really getting up to use the bathroom and eat.  I did do some research since I had so much time on my hands and discovered that it could take up to 6 days for the embryos to implant.  I know you can’t always feel implantation cramping and not everyone has implantation bleeding but I was getting a little down since it seemed like nothing was going on with me.  I definitely felt better after reading that it could take up to 6 days for this to happen.  So, I am trying not to decipher every little twinge and ping I feel in my stomach area but it is really hard!  I think the waiting game will become much easier once I am back to work and not just laying around all day wondering what is going on inside my uterus!

IVF day 24.

Well, we just got back from the transfer.  We had 2, 8 celled and 1, 6 celled (which they said would become and 8 celled in a couple of hours).  We also had another 6 and a 5.  We put the 2 8s in and the good 6!  It is only a 1% chance more to have triplets but it does up your odds to have at least 1 or 2.  So, now I am resting at home.  They said to just take it easy all day and then resume regular stuff tomorrow but I might just take it easy tomorrow as well.  The one bummer is we have to wait 2 weeks until I go for a pregnancy test!  I thought before it was only 1 week.  So, it will be a long 2 weeks!

IVF day 23.

It is hard to believe tomorrow is the big day!  It all comes down to this.  I hope our little embryos are growing nicely in the incubator.  I have many emotions going on.  This has been a very long process.  Can you believe we started trying for our second baby almost 3 1/2 years ago? So many procedures and surgeries later we are at, basically, the finish line.  I am excited, anxious, nervous, scared, ecstatic, worried, such a roller coaster of emotions.  I love all the positive support we are getting from our friends and family.  It has been quite a journey.

IVF day 22.

Gayle called first thing this morning to tell us that all 5 eggs fertilized!!  She said that was great news and we agree!  Now we just have to hope they grow in the incubator.  Keep those fingers crossed!  We go in at 8:15am for the transfer on Friday.   This is such an exciting time but it is pretty crazy that our “babies” are sitting in a petri dish.  The marvels of modern medicine!

IVF day 21.

Well we got 5 eggs out today!  I think that is a great number!  The procedure was not bad at all.  They put me out so the worst part was getting the iv.  I have been feeling really crampy and tired all day.  I can take Tylenol for the cramps.  Gayle said I should be back to pretty much normal by tomorrow.  She is going to call sometime tomorrow to let us know how many of our eggies fertilized.  Once they are fertilized then they are put in an incubator until Friday. Then we will see how much they have grown on the day of the transfer.
