Managed to make it through another shot this morning. This one did hurt a little bit more but Dave said he didn’t pinch the skin as tight as he did yesterday. Now we know to pinch hard. So far so good. I haven’t notice any crazy mood swings yet. Not sure if Dave has noticed any mood swings though…lol.
Just got done with my first shot. The buildup was terrible of course. I totally freak myself out when it comes to shots/needles. But at least that way it’s usually never as bad as I thought it would be. Dave got a little freaked out about having to do it when it was go time. So, then I got more freaked out! But in the end it wasn’t nearly as bad as either of us imagined. I still don’t think I could ever do it myself. My leg is a little sore but that’s about it. Gayle (my ivf nurse) did say that Lupron can make you pretty rollercoastery emotional wise. Hopefully I don’t get too crazy! Time to eat some breakfast and then we are off to the Florida Aquarium with Suzanne and Jamie.
We had our ivf consultation today. It was a little overwhelming but still exciting at the same time. Overwhelming because of all the drugs and injections involved, exciting because we could be pregnant at the end of April!! I will be updating the blog daily, kind of like my ivf journal. At some point Dave is suppose to make it a different page on the blog so it can be a little separate. So, as of tomorrow morning we start our first round of injections. Lupron every morning. Dave gets the wonderful job of shooting me up. I don’t think I could ever do it myself, I am a total needle phob! The needle seems to be very small so that is a plus. Those go into the tops of my thighs. Then I stop taking my birth control pills on the 3rd of April. The Lupron basically puts you into fake menopause. Once I get my period, I go in to have a baseline ultrasound. Once all that looks good we start the stimulus drugs, also still injecting the Lupron. There are also a lot of pills to take orally as well. The ivf nurse said our retrieval will be around the 20th of April (when they take my eggs out). Then we should know if we are pregnant at the end of April. What a great birthday present that would be! Our nurse Gayle is great! She gave us her cell number and we can call her with any questions. I will update tomorrow to let you know how the first injection goes! I am nervous!!!!
Spring break officially starts for me and Ty today. We don’t really have any plans. Just hanging out and relaxing is on our agenda. Ty wants to see a couple of movies. I want to go to IKEA. Maybe a trip to the park, aquarium (teachers get in free) and the new children’s museum. I don’t know if the pool is quite warm enough for my standards but I am sure Ty would love it. I also made some doctor appointments. I have the eye doctor on Monday, the fertility doctor on Tuesday (finally get to start IVF!!!) and the dentist on Friday. I also need to get to the dmv to renew my license, I really want a new picture, I hate my current one!
We had Ty’s “party” today. Just had a few friends and family over for a yummy lunch and some cake with a few presents in between. Mom made a yummy white sangria for the grownups. We also had shrimp pasta salad and chicken pasta salad. The kids had chicken nuggets with broccoli and strawberries. Ty had to have a Power Ranger cake, chocolate. He also got some really cool presents. Aqua Sand from Leah, Erin and Adam, looks pretty crazy! Just Dance 2 from Suzanne, Matt and Jamie, now he can practice and try to beat her. Meemaw got him a Lego Harry Potter set, a new pillow pet, Nerf guns, General Grievious and a really cute book called “On the Night You Were Born”. Mom got him Lego Harry Potter for the Wii. Nadia got him a gift card to Toys R Us, which he is really excited about going shopping with his “credit card”. We got him a bunch of Power Ranger toys, his latest obsession. I just can’t believe he is 5 already!!! Where did my baby go??? Happy Birthday Ty!!
