Lazy weekend.

We didn’t do a whole lot this weekend but it was nice to just stay around the house be lazy. I don’t say that a lot, I usually like to get out and do stuff on the weekend, but it is nice to do every once in a while.

Friday night we had dinner at Matt and Suzanne’s house. Suzanne made Dave’s favorite pasta and kicked our butts in some Wii dance game. Ty was pretty funny to watch when he was trying to do the dance moves. I think Suzanne got some video footage.

Saturday we spent most of the day lounging, watching tv, playing on the computers, we got some Dunkin Donuts for breakfast, Ty’s request. Around 3ish we headed down to Clearwater Beach. I wanted to take advantage of the sunshine we had this weekend! Ty and Dave threw the football, we played in the sand and Ty discovered a love of jumping down sand dunes. We ate dinner at Frenchy’s Southside Cafe. We tried their new grouper egg rolls, they are really yummy! Ty was really well behaved too, like really. After dinner we went back to the sand to throw the football some more and to watch the sun set.

Sunday was more lounging around. I started feeling the onset of a cold. Not cool. I hate being sick. Hopefully the Nyquil and Dayquil I got can take care of it. Now we are just watching the Probowl and finishing up the laundry. Can’t believe it’s Monday already!

Key West/New Year’s 2010.

The day after Christmas we packed up the 4Runner and headed down to Key West (technically Sugarloaf Key but it’s pretty dang close!).  It was me, Dave, Ty, mom and Austin and Milo and Marley.  Everyone did a great job with the long 8 hour drive.  Ty didn’t have to go to the bathroom the entire time!  He is a great child to travel with!  We didn’t hit any traffic and got there around 5:00pm.  Brad was there waiting for us along with his 2 sons, Carly and Bradley.  We unpacked and then enjoyed a great dinner of tuna and snapper.  After dinner there were presents to open.  Once everyone had opened all the gifts we were all sitting around and Brad announced that there was one more gift.  He went back to his room and returned with a blue (Tiffany’s blue) bag in his hand!  He handed it to mom and once she opened the black velvet box inside he asked her if she would marry him!!!  It was pretty exciting!  I even teared up!  Of course she said YES!  This is how our vacation started!

The next few days we did a lot of relaxing and a lot of good eating!  On Wednesday we got to go out on the big charter boat, Brad’s boat The Southpaw.  We basically got to go on our own private charter.  We even had a mate, Keith, helping us!  The water was pretty rough at first, it was still pretty windy from the cold front that blew through.  It did seem to calm down after a bit though.  First up was a 40 pound Cobia that Austin caught!  It took him about 30 minutes to reel that sucker in, he was putting up quite a fight!  I have never seen a Cobia before, it looked like a shark when it was in the water, pretty exciting stuff!  Next, Dave caught a few King fish, they put up a pretty good fight as well.  Then it was time for tuna.  They caught 4 tunas that were 25 pounds each!  Dave really loved reeling them in and fighting them.  Everyone had a great time, I definitely recommend it!  We almost hooked a sailfish as well!  Fishing doesn’t sound too exciting but it really was!

Thursday we had a little party for all of Brad’s past mates.  We had planned to make some kind of pasta but with all the fish we caught we changed the menu.  The party went off without a hitch and we heard many, many, fish stories! lol.  New Year’s Eve we had a little party of our own.  Brad’s sons came back and brought a lot of their friends, they were heading down to Key West for the festivities, they just stopped at Brad’s to eat and drink, and boy did they.  We had an awesome dinner of Pasta Carbonara and watched some football.  Once all the kids left it was nice and peaceful.  It made me feel old, that I had no desire to go party in Key West and that I would rather spend New Year’s Eve quietly at home with my family.  Old but good! lol.  We had our own toast and enjoyed the cool breeze while we all chatted about our vacation and how much fun we had.  Ty passed out around 10:30 and we went to bed shortly after.  I looked at the clock and it was 11:40, I told Dave and he asked if we should just stay up until 12:00.  What’s the point?  We kissed and said happy New Year and went to sleep!  Then this morning we packed up and headed back.  Ty did awesome again on the trip back, again no going to the bathroom!  This is no child of mine! lol  I have to stop and pee all the time!  It is definitely good to be home.

Funny things to remember from this trip:

Austin and his power bracelet.  He told Ty that if he wore it he would no longer get splinters, he totally believes him.

When they were playing football, Austin threw the ball to Ty and it hit him in the hand and bounced to the ground.  Ty said, “Oh man, you hit me in the finger and  the thumb that make a gun”, lol!

“And Marley’s dead.”

Dave and Austin having to go all over Key West to try to find a PS3 they could buy and later return, just so they could play Call of Duty for a few days.
