Christmas 2010!

We had a great Christmas this year!  Christmas Eve everyone came over (mom, Austin, Amanda).  Dave’s grandma was suppose to come but she was actually in the hospital all week, don’t worry, she is ok now, and she got to come home Christmas Day.  We had a lovely dinner of Lemon Shrimp Pasta, so yummy!  I also made Coconut Granita with crisp coconut wafers, also very yummy!  We also decided it would be much easier if everyone just slept at our house so we could all wake up together and open presents!  One of our Christmas traditions we started a few years ago is to get pj’s on Christmas Eve.  That way everyone has cute pj’s for photos in the morning!  So, we got everyone pj’s. We stayed up late eating and drinking and having a great time with each other.  Christmas morning went off without a hitch.  Ty got the giant AT-AT (from Star Wars) that he has been wanting, it came from Santa.  He also got lots of Star Wars figures to go with it, lots of Transformers, some games and even a batman watch!  I got some great clothes, new champange glasses, Prosecco, new ornaments, and Macy’s gift card (that will go toward purchasing my Kitchenaid Mixer!!  I want the purple one!!!).  Dave got a new wallet, a tea kettle, tea and a Macy’s gift card.  He also got a Nook from his grandma, which is pretty awesome, I may need my own…

Christmas dinner was absolutely delicious.  My mom made her Italian grandmother’s lasagna. The sauce had to cook all day and it was full of meatballs, pork, and Italian sausage.  This was the best lasagna I have ever had, literally, so. freaking. good.  Paired it with a great salad and some great wine and we were stuffed.  It was a great day with great people.  Can you believe we packed up that night and headed to Key West in the morning????  More to come on Key West in my next post!

Last day!!!

Today is the last day of school before the winter break!!!  2 weeks off!!!  That is all that needs to be said!

Putt Putt!

We took Ty to play putt putt golf for the first time this weekend.  We had a great time!  Todd and Tristan joined us.  We went to Congo River Golf, which has always been pretty cool, we use to go in high school.  It was a chilly night, chilly for me, so we bundled up and headed out.  They have little alligators so Ty enjoyed seeing those, he didn’t believe they were real at first.  Then we practiced for a little bit while we waited for Todd and Tristan.  It took Ty a few tries to learn how to hold the club but he seemed to get the hang of it.  Overall, Ty did pretty good.  He had a few holes that took 5 or 6 shots but most were 2 or 3.  In the end I was the winner, yep, I beat all the boys!  I don’t think they liked being beat by a girl!

Tree is up!

We got the tree this weekend (yes a real one, that is the only kind to get!).  We usually get our tree at Lowes since they have Frasier firs for 35 bucks.  When we got there on Saturday it was pathetic.  They didn’t have any 7-8 foot ones and their 5-6 footers were tiny!  I am sorry but I can not be taller than my Christmas tree!  We left and stopped by the tree place in front of the flea market, I was a little weary because stands like that are usually pretty pricey.  Their 7-8 footers were 60, not terrible, and their 5-6 footers were 40.  So, I found a great 7-8 foot tree, it was the second one I looked at (usually it takes me quite a while to find the perfect tree!).  The guy trimmed up the bottom for us and then only charged us the 5-6 foot price!  How cool is that!  We put it up and let it sit Saturday night.  I wanted to make sure Cookie could control herself around the tree before I decorated it!  She seemed to not be too interested in it so Ty and I decorated today.  He really loved unwrapping each ornament.  He would comment on how beautiful each one was, it was pretty cute!  I think he likes decorating the tree as much as I do!
